4thgc.com The Leader In Online Marketing

The late, great Peter Drucker was quoted as saying that business is 90% marketing and 10% innovation. Most successful business owners have the innovation part down pat. They understand the mechanics of what it takes to run their business on a day-to-day basis. I believe that if Peter was alive today, he would also add the benefits of internet marketing to his quote. There is a huge difference between running a business and growing a business. Growing a business takes getting the word out to your target audience. Even if you are in an extremely competitive niche you can still win the race by implementing a few basic strategies. You must first understand your target audience.

The Mindset Of The Consumer

Like it or not we live in the digital age. That means that your consumers have access to anything that they want right at their fingertips. Believe me when I say that your consumers have a crystal clear understanding of the benefits of internet marketing. Not too long ago, businesses had the flexibility and freedom to do or say whatever they wanted. They could make false claims in their ads, without having to worry about any type of repercussion. The consumer trusted what they read in newspapers and magazines. They trusted what they heard on the radio, they had faith in what they saw on television. It was like the wild west as far as businesses were concerned. The digital age killed unmoral business owners. If you make a claim today, you better damn well be able to back it up. If you claim you have the lowest price in town, it better be true. Today’s consumer can instantly search for the lowest price in town and prove that you are lying. If your claims are true, you will be rewarded with customer loyalty, not to mention free word of mouth advertising. However, if your claims are found to be false, you will be punished by losing your customers trust as well as their business. The Internet has taken the power out of the hands of the business owners and given it to the consumers. As search engines and social media continue to evolve, so will the way your customers find your business. Consumers go through the following three phases before making a decision:

  • Research
  • Compare
  • Buy

The Research Phase

The research phase is when the consumer has some sort of interest in a product or service, and  would like more information about the subject matter. It is your job as a business owner to understand what it is that the consumer is researching. You can never provide the consumer with too much information on your website. Once the consumer has done their due diligence, they will move on to phase two — the compare phase.

The Comparing Phase

If your prospect is satisfied with the research that they have completed, they will then start what I call the, “compare phase”. This is when they compare your offer or claim against others that they deem to be reputable. Once the client has chosen the company that they feel best serves their needs, they will move into the buying phase.

The Buying Phase

Once the buyer has reached the buying phase, they have credit card in hand and ready to take action. This is where most business owners drop the ball by leaving thousands of dollars on the table. Once again let’s take a birds-eye view of this situation. Here is what the buying process looks like for most business owners.

  1. The buyer makes their transaction(s) and moves on about their day.

That’s it… The buyer leaves and opportunity to increase your revenue is gone. Here is the way that your buying process should look:

  1. The buyer makes their transaction(s)
  2. Once the transaction has been completed the buyer should be presented with a backend offer.

By adding that small extra step to your sales funnel you can drastically increase your bottom line.

Internet Marketing Done Right

Do to the high demand for Internet Marketing services you have a massive amount of so-called experts fighting for your business. This ultimately causes a lot of misinformation and a ton of bad internet marketing practices. I have watched businesses waste thousands of dollars paying marketing companies that were clueless. I’m the guy that they call once they finally figure out that their business is sinking. At this point, the business owner understands the benefits of internet marketing, or at least the basics. I could go on-and-on with horror stories about business owners who have either lost their business or was on the verge of loosing their business because of so-called Internet Marketing experts. With that said, let me give you a basic blueprint to Internet Marketing done the right way.

Internet Marketing Blueprint For All Businesses

Internet Marketing done right is not complicated. You do not have to be a nuclear physics in order to understand the principals of Internet Marketing. Follow the basic blueprint that I am about to share with you right now, and you will increase your website traffic. Step 1 – Keyword Research is one of the major benefits of internet marketing I always start off with keyword research. It is the foundation that everything is built on. All of my website copy, backlinking campaigns, video campaigns, and social media campaigns are all based on my keyword research. Step 2 – Local Directory Listings is another one of many benefits of internet marketing List your business in all of the local directories such as:

  1. Google places for business
  2. Yahoo local
  3. Bing Local
  4. CitySquares
  5. SuperPages
  6. Merchant Circle
  7. and Yelp

There are tons of local directories that you can list your business in. I recommend that you Google “Local Business Directories” and see which ones best suit your niche market. You will want to optimize your directory listings based on your keyword phrases. This is extremely important. Step 3 – On Page Optimization With your list of keyword phrases in hand, it’s time to optimize your website’s pages. You will also want to create new content based on your keywords. Your new content has to also be optimized. Step 4 – Social Media Campaigns is one of the crucial benefits of internet marketing It’s time to launch your social media campaigns. Each one of the pages on your site is considered great content that can be used for your social media campaigns. When scheduling your post make sure to include a video or picture. If at all possible you never want to post just text. If you do it drastically decreases your click through rates. Step 5 – Backlinking Campaigns – I am sure you know by now that this is one of most important benefits of internet marketing DO NOT trust your backlinking to a cheap service, or anyone without a proven track record. If you do this part wrong you stand the chance of getting your domain sandboxed by Google. You stand a better chance of walking through hell covered in gasoline before you can get your domain out of Google’s sandbox. I recommend that you start out with article marketing. I must warn you that the majority of marketers will advise against this method. The reason for this is because they are doing it wrong. I have been using article marketing to generate backlinks for over a decade with absolutely no problems. I also use social bookmarking (only to key bookmarking sites). Social bookmarking is a good way to generate targeted traffic as well as high quality backlinks. There is a ton of link directories out there that you can use to build your sites backlinks. Focus on higher quality backlinks, and choose your link directories carefully.

Rinse, wash, and repeat – and that my friend is the benefits of internet marketing!
